In this category defined with the community, projects related to the use and application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to the Internet and networks may be submitted, in technical areas such as traffic management, security, resilience, Internet operations and\/or the demand generated.<\/p>\n

Likewise, it is expected that the projects also incorporate an ethical dimension in their study and development.<\/p>\n

Research projects, case studies and\/or development of proofs of concept and\/or prototypes that seek to achieve practical objectives and specific original results may be submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purpose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The main purpose of the FRIDA program is to support projects, initiatives or solutions that contribute to the consolidation of a global, open, stable, and secure Internet. Two formats are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRIDA Grants<\/strong> provide non-reimbursable funds and technical support to projects, initiatives, or solutions with a maximum duration of 12 months<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awards\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRIDA Awards<\/strong> offer economic recognition and highlight projects, initiatives, or solutions with proven, concrete impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beneficiaries<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For both formats (Grants<\/strong> or Awards<\/strong>), applicants must be based in and conduct their activities in Latin America and the Caribbean, specifically in territories that are part of the LACNIC service region. Proposals should also focus on these territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all cases, the following groups may apply to the FRIDA Program:<\/p>\n\n

    \n
  • Operators, IXPs, NOGs, or other actors in the technical community<\/li>\n
  • Universities, research centers, or working groups\/experts<\/li>\n
  • Associations, cooperatives, and other civil society organizations<\/li>\n
  • Public and\/or government agencies<\/li>\n
  • Private entities and\/or companies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Non-reimbursable financial support and technical follow-up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Grants\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Projects, initiatives, or solutions selected under the Grants<\/strong> format may each request financial support from up to US$30,000. Any project carried out with the support of FRIDA must use open-source software and\/or open-source hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In addition to financial support, the FRIDA Program follows the execution of the project and provides opportunities for the dissemination of its results and the knowledge generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Projects, initiatives, or solutions selected under the Awards <\/strong>format will each receive a recognition from LACNIC, US$10,000 in financial support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
